SOUTH BEND ZOMBIE WALK
The Annual South Bend Zombie Walk is a food drive for the Northern Indiana Food Bank, kicking off the yearly observance of Hunger Month in Indiana. Every year, several tons of food are collected for needy families in the area. You can learn more about the event here.
I started taking part in 2010 and the Walk has become an annual tradition. With several "Best Costume" awards under my belt, I have since felt the insane need to up my costume game every year...
2015 ZOMBIE WALK
For my sixth year, I transformed into some sort of xenomorph-zombie hybrid with a mouth full of hungry teeth. For various reasons, the crew was absent, so I have far fewer photos...but a best costume award was secured again!
2014 ZOMBIE WALK
This was our fifth year of participating in the walk and I devised an elaborate character whose Venitian mask revealed a frightening surprise. Another crew day of makeup and costuming prior to the walk—and another best costume award.
2013 ZOMBIE WALK
Fourth year of attendance and I dressed as my own take on Audrey Hepburn from "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Again, we met prior to the walk for makeup and costume application. I took a best costume award this year.
2012 ZOMBIE WALK
Third year of attendance with an homage to Tippi Hederen from "The Birds." We assembled a crew of fellow zombies to join us and provided makeup and costume assistance prior to the walk. Christian and Maddie took best costume awards this year.
2011 ZOMBIE WALK
Second year of attendance and first time winning "Best Character" for my rolling-pin-toting zombie housewife.
2010 ZOMBIE WALK
The first year of attendance, along with trusty sidekick Christian, who presented as a recent graduate of Zombie University.
